WRECK TRAIN DERAILED
------
No. 3 Yesterday Carried No Mail from Points East of Roanoke
------
There was a double wreck and a very unusual one east of Roanoke that delayed two passenger trains several hours. A draw head [coupler or coupler and draft gear together] was pulled out of one of the cars of an east bound freight train between Thaxton and Bedford City about 4:30, and two cars loaded with slag were derailed. The wreck train was sent from Roanoke to clear the track, and between Ironville [Villamont] and Montvale it went off the track. Passenger train No. 1, which reached this city about an hour and a half late, was made up at Roanoke, and carried no mail from points east of that city.
