PULASKI
Pulaski, Va., May 18. The maintenance of way crews of the Norfolk and
Western are now busy here excavating earth and making fills for an
additional yard trackage of about two miles. The old coal wharf will be
dispensed with and a new and much more commodious one established. There
will be changes in the sites of the present yard and roadmaster's offices
to make room for new tracks. It is also on the cards that a new freight
depot shall be built and that Pulaski shall be made a divisional terminal
between Bristol and Roanoke.
The company is as present engaged in filling the ditch that extends
along the south side of the tracks along Commerce street. This work will
give much better facilities for persons unloading freight from the wagon
track, but property owners along Commerce street may find a "fly in the
ointment" as no pipes for drainage are being put down under the fill and
the new watershed thus made may flood their properties.
