COLD STORAGE PLANT

Balance of Machinery for Randolph Market Arrives -- Men at Work

The last shipment of the material for the big cold storage plant of the
Randolph Market arrived yesterday, and a force of men, sent on from
the factory,
set about at once putting the heavy pieces in place so that work of
erecting may
not be delayed a single day. The contract for the cold storage plant specified
that it was to be set up by the manufacturers.
The inside, or street floor, of the markethouse proper is complete and only
awaits the cold storage before it will be ready for tenants. A score of men are
busy now covering over the stream that parallels the markethouse, running along
the east side of the big concrete building, while another force is grading the
wagon yard and making ready for the concrete walks.
It was learned yesterday that the Randolph people expect to be ready to open
their market by May 1st. By that date the cold storage plant will be ready and
everything in first-class order. Each stall in the market will have its own
stationary refrigerator and all the meat man will have to do to get cold air
sufficient to preserve his stock, or, if necessary to freeze, will be
turn a spigot.
