Surveying Route for New Railway

Blackwater, Va., April 8, -- The new railroad survey from Clinchport to Rose
Hill via Blackwater will soon be completed. The surveying corps form Rose Hill
have the line located from that point to Hunter's Gap in Powell's Mountain,
where they are surveying for a tunnel, while the corps from Clinchport have only
about five miles yet to survey until they connect with the survey from Rose Hill.
If this road should be built it will be the means of opening up the vast iron
ore beds in this section, as well as valuable salt wells that will equal the
famous salt works at Saltville.
