N&W Train Order Signals

It was an exception, not the rule.  Before CTC came to the  Shenandoah
Division,   Glasgow and Loch Laird were equipped with four  semaphores
in each direction.  Two were for N&W and two for C&O, which  had
trackage rights over N&W to gain access to Lexington.  In  1923,
C&O was operating three passenger trains in each direction  between
the two stations.
