The most perfect locomotive

As a resident and historian of Zuni Virginia, I have found that the section of track from Suffolk to Petersburg is about 52 miles long and was for many years the longest stretch of straight track in the US.  It was know early on as 'Racetrack' as the passenger trains sometimes exceded 100 miles per hour, it seemed to be a challenge.
