Dog House on modern N&W steam

One of the favorite tricks of engine crews was to find the brakeman sound asleep in the "dog box" when they reached the final terminal.  Thereupon, the fireman would handle the switches and move the engine to the inbound engine track, leave the snoring brakeman all to himself and head for home, wondering how many hours it would be before the hapless fellow came to his senses !

Of course, the poor soul who had been thusly abandoned would be too embarassed to mention it to anyone, but you can bet the whole Division knew about it within a few hours...
