As Ken mentioned, industries can move cars around within their properties in
many ways. But in many cases, the industry informs the railroad of specific
"spots", or locations, where they need each car. In such a case the
railroad, during their switching of the industry, places, or "spots" each
car at the location requested by the company. The car remains there until
the railroad is notified by the company that the car(s) is ready to be
picked up. The railroad then returns to the company and picks up, or
respots, cars as indicated by the company. The distance from the main line
is of no importance. If one car is to be picked up, and one to remain on
the siding, then, if necessary, both cars are "pulled", the one to be picked
up is set to the train, then the other is placed back on the siding at its
designated "spot".

Not knowing the specific location and its methods, but cars are often
drifted downgrade to a spot, moved with a car mover by hand ( a long
pry bar essentially) or moved with a dozer, tractor, heavy duty truck.
Light cars with roller bearings are not that tough to move, generally
speaking, your actual mileage may vary.
