The 1923 Pocahontas Division seniority roster shows McHaffa, E., Fireman 
hired July 8, 1912.

On June 30, 1937 train No. 2nd 85 with # 2092  plunged 86 feet off Maybeury 
Trestle. The boiler exploded when the locomotive hit the ground killing 
Engineer W. W. Snead, Fireman Mack McHaffa and Head Brakeman James Ball.
