 They were both in practice, being new bodies reusing the brake gear and
trucks[1] from the older GKa and GKb cars.

 100000-101749, same as the GKa's and GKb's they replaced. The GKd's ran 
until retirement in 1950-52, so they barely make your cutoff.

[1] There is a photo of newly built GKd 100433 showing it on Buckeye
trucks, rather than the Lewis-Pilcher trucks of the GKa and GKb.
