G-Kd Battleship Gondolas

Greetings,

  Concerning the G-Kd gon's, were these simply rebuilds of older G-K classes 
or were they built new? or both?

  Also, what number series did the G-Kd's occupy? and when were they finally 
retired from service? Mainly my focus is on the last decade of steam 
operation on the N&W (1950's) and would like to know if the G-Kd's would fit 
in during this era.
