Jim,
Right off I cannot list all the differences between the low and high hood C425’s. The low hood units came from Wabash heritage and the high
hoods were N&W ordered. I few details I can elaborate with the high hood units are:
1. Battery boxes under the sill on the right side with long hood as front.
2. Two steps at cab entrances
3. Custom fuel tanks bulges - these dimensions are on the Tiger Valley Models fact sheet which I can provide later for those interested.
4. Both air tanks on the left side, size is different from most ALCO tanks. Main reason for battery location.
I did my model several years ago from an Atlas model. However had to find an Atlas C420 for the high hood as the Bowser high hood
from their C630 did not fit correctly. I had a friend mill the fuel tank bulges from brass to add weight.
Will I purchase one? Maybe! I moved my modeling period to the mid/late 80’s these were retired. I did model 1013 as she stayed on the roster till my time frame. 1013 is now somewhere in New York, forget the name of the tourist road that owns her. I had heard the Delaware Lackawanna was trying to purchase the 1013.

Were there any other distinguishing differences between these versions other than hood height? If the Society were to offer a version which one would you prefer and would you purchase one?
