Thank You!

[NW Modeling List]

I want to express my thanks to the BOD, Officers and members of the NWHS
for bestowing its Lifetime Achievement Award to me at the recent convention
in Radford, VA. I am truly humbled by it.

I have enjoyed my membership in NWHS for many years. I hope to continue to
contribute and support NWHS for many more years to come.

If I may digress, I would encourage every member to make a contribution to
the Charles Schlotthober Archives Donation.  As you know, Charlie and his
wife were tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident.

Simply put, without Charlie, there probably wouldn't be a NWHS archive.
Charlie was working in the former N&W Motive Power building at the time NS
was converting its paper documents and files to Microfiche; Charlie saved
numerous original documents from the dumpster; when he filled his garage,
he personally rented a storage unit to continue the quest.  I still
remember the evening he called me to ask if I thought NWHS would cover the
cost of the storage unit; and I remember promising him if NWHS didn't, that
I would!  But for Charlie's contacts and being in the right place at the
right time, the NWHS archive would not be what it is today. He certainly
got it started and with his help, and the help of all the volunteers over
the years, it has become a first class operation.
