I just watched a couple great videos of the 1957 NRHS Convention in Roanoke. I have some questions, observations and opinions  about things in the movies.

1. At Blue Ridge the agent came out and stuck a square flag in a post. It was black and white and divided equally and diagonally. He handed a parcel to the baggageman on the passing passenger train so I'm assuming that was a signal for him to grab the parcel. What would the post at night? Anyone have information?
2. On one of the open air gondolas there's a black stand of some sort sticking up above the heads of the riders. What was its function?
3. For the purists and nitpickers there's several shades of Tuscan Red on the passenger cars in the excursion train and passing passenger trains and varied shades of caboose red too. Not even accounting for weathering.
4.I thought the cinder catchers or guards on the ends of the roofs on streamlined cars were gone by 1957.
5. The M's sure looked better with the high headlights on the beer barrel brackets.
6. Automobiles were so much better looking back then and the 1955 and '56 Chevys were popular even way out in the mountain areas.
Great movies. Enjoy!
