inside of black coal hoppers

[NW Modeling List]

In digging through my files I located Specification 900-M, issued
6/22/64, *Specifications
for Painting Freight Cars*.  On page 4:

*Section III - Hopper Cars - New*

(b) *INTERIOR*

The interior of the car *will not* (*emphasis in the original)* be coated
with any type material.

So....my presumption is if they didn't paint when new, they didn't paint
the interiors ever.
