As Built RS3's

I haven’t measured my Bowser RS3s but I remember back from my time on the modeling committee that we provided the correct drawings and Bowser (or us, I forgot) measured the RS3 at the VMT. Bowser’s marketing says the model has the enlarged cab so we might be good there. I’ll measure mine and compare to drawings when I return from my business trip.

I can't confirm this. Maybe someone on the mailing list has definite information. Several years ago, Division Point imported N&W RS-3s in brass and proudly proclaimed that they correctly featured the "enlarged cab" option insisted by the railroad. Did N&W RS-3s have such a feature?

Hi Larry,

Are you planning to backdate the new Bowser model? I’m on the same journey. I’m traveling and plan to do a deep dive w photos and the model when I get back next weekend.
I do know our lives would be a lot easier if we had Shellscale early diesel decals (hint, hint)! Letter by letter decalling is not my favorite thing.

What was the paint scheme, all black with bronze gold lettering and numbers without the script N&W logos? When I look a photos I see that there were grab irons on the long and short car bodies, with one that wraps around the side. I have also found that the market lights appeared to resemble the circular ball type similar to what would be found on the boiler front of steam locomotives. I a looking for any help confirming what would apply to the original four RS3 locomotives. Thank you for your time and help.
