"Foamers" has such a negative connotation. I prefer the term "railfan".  Railfan has a positive connotation.

So they upset a few "foamers". Where do you suppose that ranks in the NS box of concerns - compared to abandoning the city and state that supported and nurtured them for over 100 years? :-/
If anything, they should look at models as recruiting... like the Navy does with movies like Top Gun and the sequel. Charge a reasonable fee for their art department to approve/modify the use of their trademark, and then move on. For NS to chase $1,500 or $5,000 or whatever amount we can imagine.... that amount is a rounding error.
Community goodwill seems to be forgotten once companies grow beyond their region.

Broadway Limited announced a CF about 10 years ago, but it was cancelled.  I can't remember if it was due to lack of orders or if it was caught up in some of those tooling theft lawsuits. I have to believe that an N&W CF would sell at least as well as a Missabe or C&O wood caboose like Walthers has produced.  Of course, N&W would seem to be an obvious choice for Athearn Genesis GP9's, but other than one run of Redbirds and some ex-NKP or Wabash units, I don't think they've done any.  Manufacturers often seem to have a "playlist", and N&W is seldom on it.  How else do you explain SP and UP 4-8-2's, PRR decapods and atlantics, and C&O streamlined hudsons, but no N&W M, S1/S1a, or streamlined 4-8-2? Marty Flick

Anybody got any guesses why no model manufacturer hasn't offered a
reasonably accurate, plastic, steam-era N&W caboose in the past 50
years?

Seems like they would only sell about a 1000 of them in the first year.

I can't even remember how many SMD cabs I reserved. But it was/is a lot.
