Wow! That is really cool. I did not know any of this! I did not get into model railroading until around 2005. Well at least since I was in junior high. I graduated from CNE in 1978. One of my buddies lives out past peoples and we cross the tracks in peoples. I ask him who they belong to and he did not know. He said they don’t use those tracks anymore. I was at his house this last August. He lives real close to the serpentine mound.

Thank you so much for sharing this with me! I really do appreciate it!

Sent from my smart phone cuzz I’m just high tech like that, know what I mean?

I've attached a couple of photos Jim Detty took in December 1988. He indicated the depot was razed in January 1989, so his pictures are probably some of the last ever taken.

Prior to that the N&W had a grade crossing with West Main Street in Batavia. When the underpass was put in, the station was raised 16 feet, so had a different appearance after 1940, even though the basic dimensions remained the same. I graduated from Batavia High School in 1981 and my parents still live in Batavia, so I get back pretty often. From Batavia High you could watch the N&W trains pass by just below the school.

> That certainly is a beautiful model! Thank you so much for sharing it with us. I grew up in that area but left in 1978 when I join the army. Earlier this century I was back home visiting and saw the bridge with N&W on it. That reminded me that there was a train station in Batavia. My wife and I started driving around and asking people where it was. Several people directed me in several different directions and led me to believe it was still there because they said it was still there. Well, it was not anywhere to be found and now I know what that station looked like! Thanks again!

Jim Detty replied and provided some pictures that were taken just before the station was torn down. Thanks for your help Jim. Later my dad also found some slides he had taken of the station. I used the gathered information to model the station in HO scale. Here are some pictures of the completed model, which was kit bashed using 2 Walthers Pella station models. Of course the actual station was on a pretty steep embankment and my model is built for a flat site, but that is modeler's license as they say!
