-Locomotive 2005 was a class Y-3 2-8-8-2. N&W obtained fifty Y-3 enginesi
m 1919 under the auspices of the United States Railroad n Administration
during WWOne. It was fashionable for railfans to call every N&W 2-8-8-2 a
Y-6b but the thirty Y-6bs. numbered 2171 through 2200 were just the
newest. The 2005 model was one of several numbers applied to that
particular model. The real 2005 spent her last days working on the yard at
Portsmouth, Ohio.
N&W had over 200 2-8- 8-2s in ten classes, ranging from Y-1 to Y-6b.
