Hi,
I think it might be a decent approach to get a bachman 2-6-6-2 and add some
n&w appliances. N&w's were related to the usra and/or c&o 2-6-6-2. If you
add a keep alive, you can make up for any pick up issues.
I did something similar to make a usra 4-8-2, it was fun. Basically I
drilled a few holes, filled a few holes, and painted the boiler black with
the new stuff on it with a higher quality model spray can. It came out ok.
