I agree. The unlettered would also appeal to all the freelancers!

Another approach that would catch all the other N&W paint schemes (or at least make it a relatively simple process only having to apply decals) would be having the models available in black (but painted black) unlettered.  I unsuccessfully discussed this approach with Rapido way back when the RS11's were first announced.  With all the fine detail, window glass, and such painting a raw gray plastic model with the proper level of quality could be difficult and you'd have only one shot to get it right.  (I have painted lots of brass models over the years including a stint at a hobby shop doing so professionally)  So if Bowser  offered an unlettered black (painted) N&W RS3 in addition to the blue lettered ones they're offering we'd have a relatively simple path to having any of the black N&W schemes we wanted. I will approach them with that idea.

Wish they would do these in a "as delivered" scheme.

I also talked to Bowser at the Greatest Hobby show in Columbus, Ohio.

Only three  RS3’s will be done ate first with others to follow. Western Maryland, and two others.

Only simple modes will be done first as I was told. He wasn’t sure but N&W will follow.

Speaking of which, I saw some samples of the bodies at last weekends Worlds Greatest Hobby show in Columbus, Ohio. Neither were the N&W shell, but very cool nonetheless. Photos attached.

I also learned that only assembly is done out of country. CAD design, tool making (aluminum molds) and paint/pad printing are all done in Pennsylvania. I was pleasantly astounded. The factory closure, which I assumed was where this work was being done, affected the timeline because without assembly services, there were fewer models to sell and therefore less income to pay the machine shop.

All,

I have spoken with Lee English of Bowser regarding the RS-3 locomotives. Per our conversation, the society will extend the pre-order deadline to noon on April 14, 2020.

Bowser is producing these units in road numbers 300, 306 and 307.  Road number 307 will only be available through the society. Enclosed is the link that will take you directly to the model section of the Commissary.

Get your pre-orders in early as April will be here soon!

Regards,
