If this goes through, attached is a photo of the air line on a Southern
GP35 which may be similar.

Erik:

1) Attached is a photo of the nose that show part of the bell air line.
Once is extended to the nose it went straight down into the nose.

2) Also I find photos of the 1776 with the firecracker antenna from 5/74
on. Same Photo attached. Photo by Buffalo NY - 05/74 - {Don Coppola Photo}

3) Just in case red inside of bell.

Stephen, to my eye, the Southern and N&W SD45's both had the same bell and
bracket.  The bell and bracket on some of the earlier first generation
diesels seemed to be different with Southern's looking like a shop
fabricated piece.  Hope this helps.  That thing will be a beast in O
scale!!!

Stephen, I've always felt the bell brackets were a little bit different
depending on what locomotive you are interested in.  If you can say what
loco you are interested in it might help a bit.

Does anyone know if the N&W and Southern bells are the same?
