>From what I've seen in pictures and heard at the NMRA train show, the
tender is correct but the sand domes are still C&O. Admittedly changing the
sand domes using such processes as 3D printing is probably easier than redoing
the tender, it's a shame that of the two big noticeable differences
between the C&O and the VGN that only one was chosen. That will probably hurt
sales, unfortunately.
As far as running qualities, I've not seen anything about whether the
Hornby version is better than the older Rivarossi.

I agree I would like a blue one. I believe Athearn is sticking to the NS
end as the HO GP49's arrived before the GP39X's. Both were announced at
the
same time and we know in the real world delivery was the other way around.
I will follow on my schedule and build mine from a Kato.
