512 is used on a regular basis at the NC Transportation Museum in Spencer for
the site train ride, usually with 537. Both are currently on the train.

The two partioned coaches were the P2s 511 and 512. 511, I believe was sold to
Ontario Northland and 512 was donated to Roanoke Chapter NRHS. The partition
remains in the 512 to this day. However, there had originally been an art deco
style door separating the two compartments, which was removed prior to Roanoke
Chapter receiving the car in 1983/84. I suspect it was removed long ago during
regular service, simply to eliminate maintenance, and make passage more
comfortable.

The P1s, 501 and 502, were originally referred to as "locker cars" as they had a
separate compartment at the front of the car that was a lounge and locker
compartment for the dining car crews. That was soon changed over to an
additional compartment with seats.
