Hi Ed

that's great and thanks. No Railroad at present but one day.

I find this a very good and friendly group.

Hey, Barry -

It's your railroad. If you
want to run a Challenger on it, do so. Anybody who objects just
doesn't get invited back!

The closest a Challenger ever got to the N&W
was when the Clinchfield engines crossed the N&W's Clinch Valley District at
St. Paul.

The mighty UP never let its superior power be
sullied by operating it on the N&W. 8^)

Hi Barry;

The N&W did not get involved until the after the
merger of 1964, when amongst others, the Wabash and Nickel Plate were merged
into the N&W.

Hi

Am I correct that this service was running in the
early 1950's and if so did UP steam ever get onto N&W metals, as far as is
known?

I have a Rivarossi UP Challenger which I have got going and
fitted up to work on DCC, which she does very well. I wonder if they would
ever have got onto the N&W system?

Just an idle late night
thought!

Barry,

I don't know the exact details but I am researching them right now
myself.

I do know they were used in some type of pool service with Union Pacific
and other railroads.

I remember seeing a dome and another car in Roanoke in the late
60's.

The car names are Western Lake, National Unity, Western View, Western
Sunset, National Homes, Western Scene, and National Colors.

The car numbers are 202, 203, 1427, 1428, 1419, 1430, 1612, 1613, 1834,
1835, 1836 and 1837.

I have attached a photo of dome 1613. The cars had 2.5 inch red stripes
on the top and 5 inch stripes along the bottom.

Thanks,

Richard D. Shell

Hi

Can somebody please explain about N & W cars being
painted in UP livery. Which, when and why would be appreciated.

Many
thanks

Thanks for your honest input. I didn't know Sam had done the set in O.
Sam, if you are listening... Do you still have some? I may have a customer
for you!

I think I will hold off on that set for a while.

On another note, I am releasing our newest set, HO134, N134 and O134 in
about 6 weeks. This set is for the N&W cars that were painted in Union
Pacific colors. HO Scale proof is attached.

Thanks,

I find that this is not the greatest sight to do a
product survey. There always seem to be little support for anything unless
it's free and O scalars are limited here.
I believe you need to look at
what N&W products are out there for the O scale decals. Little if any!
Therefore I would not produce something
that there is no product to use
on. I have some of Sam Putneys O scale passenger car decals and have only
used them once on an O Scale
American Models passenger car about 20
years ago.
Just an observation. Stephen

I recently introduced our HO and N Scale N&W
Passenger Car decal set
and they have sold very well. My question is,
is there a market for
these in O Scale? I have gotten one request so
far to make them in O.
Just curious if the O Modelers would like to
see this set produced. The
art is complete already and they could be
available in as little as six
weeks. I would estimate the cost to be
around $8.99 per set and they
would do one
car.

Thanks,
