O scale Weaver Express Cars

Weaver have just produced an REA/N & W Express Car in the tuscan(?) livery. 
It's on page 25 of their online catalogue - www.weavermodels.com
It is in their WWII Troop Train series. The number shown is 1364.
Did such a vehicle ever exist? I've looked at all my reference material, but 
without avail.
