Jim has a great memory! I have slide the Kokomo in Roanoke in 58'in tuscan.
The NKP Car Company did the car sides for this car in HO.
Also Jim has the 1705 coach car in Tuscan in his book, twice!

Thanks Jim, Now I don't feel quite so crazy! City of Kokomo went to CN in 1966 renamed Riverside, then to VIA and scrapped in 1983. I wonder if anyone snapped a photo in tuscan? Don Corbin

Yes, City of Kokomo was painted tuscan. I saw it at least once on No. 3. Jim Nichols

Coach 1705 was repainted tuscan. As far as I know, that was the only coach
so painted. The others were painted blue when the entire passenger paint
plan was changed. That blue was darker than the NKP. On at least one
occasion, one of them was used as an overflow on Train 3 1965 Thanksgiving
Sunday. Also, if memory serves, and that's questionable, sleeper City of
Kokomo was also repainted tuscan. I only saw it in Roanoke once. They were
disposed soon after the demise of NKP passenger trains.

The Walthers car with the blue letterboard is a model of an ex-NKP car. At
least one of them got repainted with a tuscan red letterboard before N&W
went to blue. They ran briefly on the ex-NKP trains after the 1964 merger.
After they were discontinued, they ran on ex-Wabash trains. And, yes, they
were in this color scheme when sold to Amtrak. Jim Nichols

Mr. Scheer :Can you give me any information on the
former PRR-N&W-RF&P-ACL run through train to
Norfolk(?) VA. There is almost nothing in print about
it
>from the east coast rr's books. Also, were the
tuscan cars on PRR the same shade as those on the N&W,
and likewise the RF&P ?
I bought a Walthers HO scale N&W PS 52 seat coach
model. All the photos of N&W cars I have seen were in
tuscan. Where did this Blue letterboard w/ gold
lettering car and it's sisters operate, and were they
painted in that color scheme when purchased by Amtrak
in 1971-2.
Thank you for any information you may have.

Good morning, Craig:
Bill Griffin has written some books about the RF&P
that include some references to The Cannonball. There
are also several other historians and modelers who are
can provide better information about the train consist
than me. I'll pass this along and invite people to
write to you off-line at JERSYSTMRR at aol.com If I see
any relevant postings, I'll likewise forward them to
you.
There was a Railway Post Office (RPO) operated on this
train prior to the 1960s, which was furnished by the
N&W. If you or others want more information about
this RPO route, I can scan a schedule table and send
it along.
Best wishes,
Frank
