I agree Marty. I am into running mine and am just glad that someone even
made a class Y3 and A sound or not. Now I await someone to make an
affordable Y6b, preferably the last or next to last that N&W built I want a
Y6b # 2197 like ran against the diesels.

First, is it reasonable to ask a manufacturer to have the exact whistle,
horn, and bell on a model that the prototype had? The additional research
required for this, particularly on steam locomotives that have not run in 50

years or more, would be sizable. That leads to my second question: are
there any recordings of VGN USRA 2-8-8-2's? If a recording doesn't exist,
how is a company supposed to offer a correct whistle?
Personally, I think if our biggest complaint about a locomotive is that the
pitch of the whistle is wrong, then model companies are doing a pretty good
job.
