Painting Virginian Boxcar

Hi -
I am new to the list.  I hope someone can help me with a few questions regarding the painting of a Virginian BX-12 boxcar.

I have finished the model ('O' scale) and I am ready to paint. It appears from photos that the sides are boxcar red and the ends and bottom are black.

1. Is the roof painted black or boxcar red?
2. Is the Morton style roofwalk painted or left unpainted?
3. What is a good match for the boxcar red color?
