Happy New Year to everyone still here.

As we posted a few weeks ago, this version of the list is being shut down. The software is being retired, and not replaced. Therefore, we had to make the decision to switch our email lists down to a single list, this time on groups.io.

Groups.io seems to be a fairly robust system. With our present system, a number of email providers, primarily Yahoo are blocking posts from this list. 

Now you might think that “I don’t use Yahoo for email.” You may well be wrong about that, Yahoo provides email services for a wide variety of other folks, such as AOL, Verizon, AT&T among others.

The moderators were getting a few dozen bounced emails each time one was sent out. And once a certain number of bounces to an address were made, the software would disable your address.

We decided on groups.io as it is a much more flexible system, and a number of other rail-based groups have already been there, including the Friends of the Virginian, the Pennsylvania Railroad. Milwaukee Road, D&RGW, L&N, C&O and many others.

We transferred all the emails we had a few weeks ago to the new list and you all should have received an invitation to join.

However, we could not automatically add you as a member, without your approval. That email could easily go into your spam emails.

If you have not already, you can sign up for the new list as follows:

As we make this transition, check your email spam settings and make sure the address <nw-mailing-list at groups.io> is whitelisted so you will see all the messages from the list.

If you are already using groups.io with the same e-mail address, NW-Mailing-List will show up in Your Groups.

If you are new to groups.io, please click on the link included in the email to establish a password to go with your email address. This will unlock a web interface where you can customize the way messages are sent and received from your account.
