Jim, Kenneth,
Please ignore my previous reply, attempting to jest with Jim about
straying into a seemingly unrelated topic, and Kenneth, thanks for the
traffic info. I've been looking about for evidence that either plant
ever had any rail access. Like Bluefield Yard, the greater Bluefield
area straddles two water sheds, thus the need for two sewerage
facilities, apparently neither with enough volume to rate a spur. The
newer Westside plant (BTW, left of the bridge below) is a tertiary
facility and Ada appears to be a retrofit. However, in the 1950s, what
supplies for sewage treatment plants were likely hauled in by what type
of rail car and transferred to truck at the local freight station or
team track?
