In the past week, I have noticed a change in several (but not all) coal trains eastbound through Ellett, about 25 miles west of Roanoke.

Several of these coal trains have been 200 plus cars with 2 engines on the front and two engines about mid-train. I wonder if these longer trains are related to the Port of Baltimore closure (just speculation on my part). There continue to also be some "conventional" coal trains on this line of about 110 cars and 2 engines up front. Total coal trains on this line average about four per day with an additional three or so grain, tank, and general freight trains, all eastbound but an occasional hopper train or two westbound.
