The K-3, Wha Might Have Been

I read that the N&W  wanted more of  the weight  on drivers than they
thought they could get with the 2-8-4.  This doomed the K-3; shortening the
main rod to connect with the second driver  would have resulted in
extremely h igh vertical stresses on the crossheads and guides.
The K-3 looked mean as hell, though.
