Again, clicking the little diagonal arrow symbol on the images’ detail page will enlarge the photo to nearly the full size of your screen. There are + and – buttons in the upper left corner of the enlarged photo to zoom in  even more. In this photo, zooming in reveals that the worker on the bridge has what appears to be a scraper in his right hand, and there’s a whisk broom lying on top of the bridge beam.

Engraving in abutment reads 1931 next to worker doing what OSHA would not approve of these days.
