As someone who does use Facebook, there is a huge difference between a FB group and a mailing list. I am nowhere near as active in FB groups as I am in mailing lists. I consider FB to be largely a cesspool (and way too often, I see posts where someone asks a question, someone posts a wrong answer, and then the original poster or a moderator turns off commenting or the poster deletes the topic before the wrong answer can be corrected). It was this mailing list that got me interested again in N&W history and then joining the N&WHS. Get rid of the mailing list and I’m probably gone from the N&WHS within a year.
