Thanks for providing this.

While recognizing this sketch  is not drawn to scale, the location of the wye is a surprise.  The North Fork of the Roanoke River runs along the north side of the railroad right of way in this area.  Either one or two bridges would be required for the wye.  I’ll look at this more closely after the leaves are gone and see if any remains are visible.

Just as an after-thought, I was reminded how some things come full circle.  The last passenger service on this route was in 1954 and consisted on one train each way daily, usually composed of a light Pacific for power, a mail/express car, and two coaches. Upcoming, about 70 years from that date, passenger service will return to this track to be acquired by the Commonwealth of Virginia for Amtrak service to the New River Valley, with two trains in each direction daily.   It is my understanding that freight trains will continue to use the track but will be paying the Commonwealth for such use.
