The brochure that Frank referred to was dated after the diesels had come (1954) and the hump yard at Elmore was leveled (late 1953).  Since my upcoming articles on the VGN are based on info in H. Reid's book from 1953, I will continue to work under the assumption that all coal mined on the VGN was weighed and classified at Elmore; this can be challenged.by additional findings.
