Pier cars

Thank you, Harvie, for the interesting details.  It might complete the 
picture for some people to mention that the pier cars were lifted by an 
elevator from ground level, where they were loaded, to the upper level 
of the pier, where they could run along to dump their contents into 
ship's holds.  Once when I was on a brief assignment at Lamberts Point, 
I had an interesting ride up and down on the Pier 4 elevator.
