RF&P ex-K3 ebay neg

I had 1 of the Sunset Water Buffalo’s many years ago but sold it when I changed to S. I’m back in HO but no plans to get another one since they don’t fit my era. While the prototype had serious balancing issues above 45mph (I think), my model had equally serious quality issues related to poor motor, bad connection between motor and gearbox and drivers that wouldn’t stay quartered (slipped on the axles). I think this was common among Sunset and Westside models of the era (my Dad bought 3 B&O Westside models in the late 70s and all of them had quartering issues).

Jim,

Pictures of these engines do seem scarce.

I apparently am in short company but I have always liked the looks of the K-3 engines. Wish there were more good N&W photos of them and even photos on the other roads that bought, sold, traded them.

TRAINS magazine did a very good 2-part story on them years ago by John Corns (?).

IMO, a fairly rare image of an ex K-3 in RF&P livery.
