It sounds like you can’t get enough history on the steam pusher operations. Some time back, I found myself in the exact same situation. Rest assured you have come to the right place to discover the treasures of history.

For myself, the next discovery was the Auxiliary Water Tenders and how they influenced the road operations. To whet your appetite, have you ever heard of adding trailing tonnage to the locomotive resulting in an increase in train tonnage capacity? It happened in some locations…

I love it, sounds like a perfect example of railroading at its finest! One look at the photo John Garner sent shows it was not consistently used with pushers, as there are weeds and no huge amounts of cinders in place.

John did correct me on the Honey Hole, the creek is actually further away to the south of the tracks there. I stand corrected. The area where the Honey Hole is damp, hence the weeping willow trees.
