were the C&O trackage rights a unique arrangement for the N&W? Or did it occur elsewhere ?
Today's CSX has trackage rights over the former N&W's Clinch Valley District from Norton to
St. Paul. There was also an arrangement with ATSF ID'ed as "paired track" on the Moberly
Division (former Wabash) for 30 miles between Carrollton and Camden, Missouri. N&W owned
and maintained one track and ATSF the other main track, but trains from both roads could
use either track. The 30-miles was Automatic Block Signal (not TC) and was ATSF- dispatched.
So it might be said that from the Wabash acquisition until Amtrak, the ATSF Super Chief/El Capitan
operated on the N&W (for 30 miles that is) Harry Bundy
