In the 1940's, the mode of operation was to leteastbound passenger trains pull toward LambertsPoint and back into a stub track. After that theeastbounds headed into a stub track. Before thelocomotive could be taken to Lamberts Point forservice, passenger had to detrain, mail, baggage andexpress had to be unloaded, and the coach yardswitcher had to couple to the consist and take itto the coach yard for service before the locomotivecould be uncovered. Seems like there wereadvantages to the World War II method. Harry Bundy
