Clift Yard - Bluestone Branch?

The folder at the Eastern Regional Coal Archives in Bluefield is labeled 1928 and contains 15 pictures at Clift Yard including the one that started the discussion. It also includes the two used in the Clift Shop article. I took pictures of the pictures, while they are not particularly good, Z1a 1418 was one of them.

I would have thought earlier than 1928  Wouldn’t there be Y3 or Zs working such a productive branch by then? I count 4 maybe 5 small engines plus the passenger train. (Mind you I’m looking at it on a phone). I wonder if this is right after electrification 1915/16 ish?

 

I found the picture on Roanoke public libraries. (HNWR140). It gives it an even later date of 1937.
