Jim,
Thank you, you have identified yet another view of an American Eagle crane
that I was not familiar with.  This crane has what I call a “channel”
framed boom as opposed to the lattice boom on N&W #13021 (CW#3) and  it
isn’t using a boom car.  The couplers on the cranes appear to be set low
relative to standard coupler height, I suppose this gave the crane the
ability to couple to and move cars it was working with while discouraging
heavy use.  Among the questions that I have come away with from my research
is where exactly was the booms bottom pin centered?  I have AH&D catalogs,
2 different railroad construction diagrams, they all show a different
position.  One of our archive collection photos shows what appear to be two
position options on the same crane.  Any and all information that others of
you might have would be most appreciated.
