You’re welcome Vic,

In response to your question about Norfolk-New York run, the most likely route on the Norfolk to DC portion would’ve been N&W from Norfolk to Petersburg pulled by a K2 or K2a. Then the train would’ve operated over the Atlantic Coast Line from Petersburg to Richmond by the same N&W steam locomotive. At Broad Street Station in Richmond the cars would’ve been handed off to the Richmond, Fredericksburg, and Potomac RR and a diesel would’ve taken the train to Washington. From there it was PRR all the way to New York.

Sincerely,

When extra sleeping cars were needed on any route, Pullman would supply what was available and not necessarily one from the home road. The last N&W sleeping car inter-line route was Norfolk-New York, and I think that ended about 1964. This doesn't include the Southern run throughs between Lynchburg and Bristol.

A video which I have seen, shows some PRR and NYC sleepers in N&W trains. #25 had a connection in Cincinnati that went on to Chicago, perhaps with a PRR sleeper? Assistance would be appreciated!
