Thanks to the generosity of Messrs. Crosson, Evans, Powers, Goodman, Deyerle and Schust, all of whom sent in large donations to pay my way to a remedial spelling school. I think I now know how to spell **Abaodnoment** ... or however you spell it.

The indefatigable Cardinal Blackstock delivered the goods, based on his research, which borders on the heroic in its quality, at the Shaffers Crossing archives. Cardinal Blackstock sendeth the ye following, which carry bibliography dates ranging from 1896 to 1921.

NI - Naugatuck

BQ - Lenore

CY - Canterbury

DT - Hale (passing siding)

HM - Dingess

UA - Trace (passing siding)

GU - Breeden

WI - Wilsondale (later WA, still later WX)

DW - Doane (passing siding)

GW - Radnor

CO - Coleman

MI - Wayne

AD - Ardel

DS - Lavalette (later DT)

BC - Buffalo Creek

PU - Ceredo

Many of these names are no longer current and not indexed in Google Maps. But almost all of them can be found on the USGS Historical Topo Maps (all 178,000 of which are now available on-line.) Indeed, the east end of the Twelve Pole line is shown on the Warfield Quadrangle, which was surveyed in 1887, and that is the oldest date I have ever seen for a USGS Topo Map. My guess is that the exploration and development of the coal lands brought to bear some heat on getting the area mapped quite early on.

With a couple days' work, one could build a quite nice Google Earth KMZ file of the Twelve Pole, with all the particulars, including coordinates. Some of the early topos even show where the passing sidings were located on the Twelve Pole. If there is enough money left in my Spelling Scholarship Fund to endow that kind of research, I just might build the KMZ file...

In case anyone is wondering whence the name **Twelve Pole** for the creek followed by the railroad, check Mr. Wikipedia.

I do not like rattlesnakes. So I shall mark off right now and let Bro. Bundy cover tonight's opening for a night shift telegraph operator at Trace passing siding on the Twelve Pole Fast Line. Git movin', Harry !

Thanks again, Mr. Blackstock !
