I purchased a Seth Thomas #2 from Tom Aker about ten years ago who said it was from the Motive Power Building. It has a mahogany case and Roman numerals. My understanding is that clocks for the Roanoke headquarters offices were mahogany cases while those used at depots had oak cases. I retrofitted the clock with an original Arabic numbers dial and retained the Roman numerals dial. My viewpoint is that for railroad operations, Arabic numbers created fewer opportunities for time errors, but this is only a personal perception. The O. Winston Link interior view at Waynesboro with Operator Humphries includes Seth Thomas #2 with an Arabic number dial.

Best wishes for an early Spring,
