Hey Ken
Amtrak has a facility, on the east side of the N&W Punkin’ Vine, north of the diamond with the VGN ot the North East side. JK tower of course, is gone, it stood in the South West quadrant.
At night the train pulls into the station on the N&W side, from the east. Stops, unloads, then normally backs east to the east leg of the Campbell Avenue wye, proceeds through the wye to the facility, pulls in and parks for the night.
Early in the morning, the train backs out of the maintenance facility, goes north, then through the west leg of the Campbell Avenue wye and backs into the station. From the Hotel Roanoke webcam it is normally easily seen, but it is dark. I don’t know exactly what time they spot it at the station.
