Yes, Mary Bill accompanied Bill on most of his trips to make the recordings. She is quite a railfan and enjoys the rail scene as much as anyone else.

Regarding the Pigeon Creek Shifter effort, Bill did both stationary and pacing recordings with the recorder in the back seat of his car and powered from an inverter attached to the car battery. There are times in the recording where the road moves away from the track but comes back beside the road a few times. Mary Bill told me that the sequence of several short blasts (a warning signal) were due to a horse standing on the track. The horse did move to the side and the train passed without incident.

Jim,
??? Can you relate to the way the recordings on "Chasing the Pigeon
Creek Shifter" were obtained? Meaning, onboard or pacing beside, etc.
