CPL signals and how they operate

Continuing my quest for understanding of N&W signals, I came across scans
of aspects and indications from a rules and regulations book from around
1915 at website https://www.railroadsignals.us. The presentation was a bit
confusing for me with the aspects of several styles of semaphores
commingled. In the attached Word document I am attempting to sort the
information by signal style and whether it was a home signal or an
intermediate. I started with the home signals and those are included with
this installment. Most of the indications seem to have survived relatively
unchanged. “stop and stay” and “proceed” are straightforward and I would
imagine that "proceed prepared to stop” just got enlarged a bit to the
indication corresponding to the “restricting” aspect. However, I am
mystified by the “proceed under control” indication. Perhaps someone who
has access to the complete rulebook or an A.R.A. code book of this period
might be able to shed some light on this one. I am going to work on the
intermediates next and hopefully will have an update to post soon.
